It worked for the theme though (which was to show how an animal and its master have a "bond" together... I went with a Captain Nemo and his squid "friend") and the blending ended up being much more simple than I thought it would be. We could take the context in whichever way we wanted, literal or figurative and whatnot, so I approached mine with a bit of a personal context. In the illustration we also had to incorporate collage materials along with painted materials, but how much we use of each was completely decided by us.
